According to Fleming’s daughter, Anita O’Brien, Sheikh allegedly used his position as an elected official to gain her father’s trust, then obtained control over his home, bank accounts, and health‑care decisions.
O’Brien claims her father’s declining memory made him vulnerable, and that Sheikh persuaded him to sign over his Torrance home via a quitclaim deed in 2021, later naming Sheikh’s daughter as a beneficiary in trust documents. Bank records reportedly show repeated checks written to Sheikh, which O’Brien says are red flags for elder financial abuse.
Sheikh denies all wrongdoing, stating that the allegations were dismissed in probate court. Meanwhile, O’Brien has filed complaints with multiple agencies, including the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Elder Abuse Unit and the Fair Political Practices Commission, which had not responded at the time of reporting.
